Revelation 18 Commentary - The Fall of Modern Day Babylon

Revelation 18

1And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory. 2And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.

This is prophesying against our present modern day Babylon.

3For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.

This is a continuation of the 2nd part of Revelation 17 with that Great City, Modern Day Babylon getting struck and burned by “the 8th” of Rev 17:11, explained more thoroughly here. The merchants or businessmen of the earth have waxed rich through her. With the US stock market, being the largest stock market in the world, who else could this be addressing?

4And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.

Here God is calling his people to come out of her because of not only her sin, but because she’s going to be destroyed. This contradicts a pre tribulation rapture hypothesis. Why would we need to come out of her, if there is a pre tribulation rapture to save us from this tribulation time?

5For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.

6Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double.

7How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.

Isn't that the mind set of Americans today, that no one would dare try to bomb us because we are the most powerful nation in the earth. I sit a queen and am no widow and will see no sorrow. But as we know, Russia and China together, with a few other friends, are more powerful than the US and could beat the US in WW3, especially with a surprise first strike huge advantage.

8Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.

The popular false Futurist view of prophecy gives several gradual decay of the empire scenarios, but here it says her plagues come in one day. This indicates, in the real world of today's modern warfare and strategy, that it will be sudden, as in a sudden bombing of a multitude of cities or supply chains, so that a retaliation would be minimized.

9And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning,

10Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.

Again, in one hour is a sudden burning or bombing. As we’ve proven “That Great City” in Revelation 17 is our present Western Empire made up of the city divided into 3 parts (Rev 16:19), the US, England and the EU, that was formed during the World War II global reset of that great earthquake upheaval that took place, shown in the last verses of Revelation 16.

In this next verse we see this entity is not limited to the Papacy like some theologians think. What we see is a vast empire of trade and commerce.

11And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more:

12The merchandise of gold, and silver, and precious stones, and of pearls, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet, and all thyine wood, and all manner vessels of ivory, and all manner vessels of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble,

13And cinnamon, and odours, and ointments, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and chariots, and slaves, and souls of men.

14And the fruits that thy soul lusted after are departed from thee, and all things which were dainty and goodly are departed from thee, and thou shalt find them no more at all.

15The merchants of these things, which were made rich by her, shall stand afar off for the fear of her torment, weeping and wailing,

The merchants or businessmen , which were made rich by her… Who else is being made rich more than those on Wall Street and selling to our consumer society?

16And saying, Alas, alas, that great city, that was clothed in fine linen, and purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold, and precious stones, and pearls!

Here verse 16 repeats the same wording from Revelation 17:4, showing Rev 17 and Rev 18 are definitely talking about the same entity, that woman=that great city=who rules the kings of the earth,= our present western empire of the US, England and the EU, the city that was divided into 3 parts from Rev 16:19. It’s not limited to the Papacy as some theologians think.

17For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off,

18And cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What city is like unto this great city!

19And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas, that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate.

20Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye holy apostles and prophets; for God hath avenged you on her.

Heaven rejoicing over the destruction of the present western empire? Yes because what most Americans do not realize is we as a nation called the United States Inc, has started and funded many wars and killed many innocent people. Our merchants or businessmen have made slaves of men with their damn global economy of greed and bottom line profits over the health of others, as well as oppressing the working poor. The whole system of greed and excess is the problem and God is judging it as he usually does, through other nations. This nation has killed over 50 million babies in abortion, which is a shallow lover fornicators dream, whose shallow love has populated the private prisons of men from broken homes. The end of our atheistic education system brainwashing children in evolution theory should also make Heaven happy. It’s wickedness has spun the destructive life styles of millions of youth. The blood of the innocent is overflowing. Inventions that could make our lives much better are being suppressed by the wicked in high places. They are the cause of much suffering and it must end, so to prepare for the Kingdom of God to come and rule on earth thru the Lord Jesus Christ in righteousness.

21And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.

22And the voice of harpers, and musicians, and of pipers, and trumpeters, shall be heard no more at all in thee;

This generation is diverted and prioritized with pleasures and with concerts from the harpers and musicians and pipers and trumpeters. World War III will shut it all down. None of their music brings honor to God, but is filled with fornications, lust, nakedness, foul language, greed, theft, and violence. Its witchcraft has seduced youth into unrighteousness and sin.

and no craftsman, of whatsoever craft he be, shall be found any more in thee; and the sound of a millstone shall be heard no more at all in thee;

All craft and industry with construction will be completely shut down and their industries destroyed in World War III.

23And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee:

We are the bride of Christ and Christ is the bridegroom and even the preaching of the gospel will be shutdown. Big ministries will fold. God is shutting this down in preparation for people to own up to their sin, repent and be ready for his coming shortly after World War III. God is gonna force the people of this nation to come face to face with their sin and forsake it or die without him. All the diversions of music, movies, working, gambling, and other pleasures and sin are going to be stopped.

for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived.

This could be re worded to say for thy businessmen where the great men of the earth, for by thy lies, deceptions, witchcraft music and big pharma snake oil were all nations deceived. It would not be inaccurate to say that. Deep state deceptions will end and all those involved will be condemned. All liars will have their part in the lake of fire.

24And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.

In my Revelation 17 commentary, it is shown how the woman, that great whore, was also in Babylon, Greece and Rome and is now spread throughout the earth and is responsible for seducing the world into lies and deceptions and idolatry. This is how that in this woman, was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.

There is no other entity more matching the description of modern day Babylon than the United States. Our currency is the worlds reserve global currency. No one else has a Military in every continent on earth. We are the technology, big pharma, media, military, banking and currency capitol of the world. Who else could be with more such riches and wealth described in Revelation 18?

World War III is coming. Babylon will burn by the arms of China and Russia with their friends, uniting as “the eighth” head of the beast to come.
